Have you or someone you love been forced out of your community because they couldn't find an affordable, suitable home? Have you gone to extreme measures in order to adapt? Perhaps you're a homeowner watching your equity soar, but are worried about your kids or grandkids and the state of your neighbourhood.

Each story is unique, but perhaps most would agree the housing market in places like Greater Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto and elsewhere is growing out of reach and out of control (both renting and owning).

There are no sharp lines here, but younger Canadians (broadly defined as those in their 20s, 30s and 40s) are being hit particularly hard.

A flood of international capital in some markets is a big part of the problem, yet the housing squeeze is multi-faceted and Canada-wide. In places like Vancouver, Victoria, and Toronto the situation is critical. It’s Code Red, and calls for major action by our politicians. You can get the full story in our report "Code Red: Rethinking Canadian Housing Policy."

Stand with us by becoming a Backer of Gen Squeeze (monthly contributor) and join us as we organize for you, and with you, to push for meaningful change.

To make a difference we'll need resources. Lots of resources. Both people and funds. We don’t want to make the squeeze any worse, so we’re asking for as little as $1.87/month (a nickel a day + transaction costs) to pay for organizers, materials and ongoing costs.

For those who can afford $5 or more, we’ll send you a special Code Red window sign!
